Alex Hawke is the Member for Mitchell and a former Assistant Treasurer and Special Minister of State under Scott Morrison.
A card and crucifix-carrying member of the Liberal Party’s religious right faction, Hawke is, to put not too fine a point on it, a complete nutter.
He was one of Morrison’s key backers in the coup that unseated Malcolm Turnbull, he opposes same-sex marriage and he thinks we’re doing too much to tackle climate change. Blah blah blah something about freedom etc etc.
Alex lists his hobbies as “religious extremism, judging others, and receiving a This Is Not A Greeting Card! from New Matilda readers”.
