New Matilda Takes Hostages In Stand-Off With Channel 7 Over Unpaid Invoice

The best defence is attack. And so we’re attacking….

New Matilda readers will be aware than Channel 7 is currently threatening to sue us, because we described the ‘journalism’ that emanates from the ‘news and current affairs program’ Today Tonight as trashy.

Well, the stakes in that fight have just been raised. Our original response to Today Tonight, which you can read here, included an attached invoice for $3,600 (plus GST) being for the time it took New Matilda editor Chris Graham to seek legal advice, and respond.

Shockingly (and admittedly without any legal foundation), more than two months later, that invoice, issued on July 25, remains unpaid.

HOUSE AD – NEW MATILDA HAS A FEW HOURS LEFT ON A MAJOR POZIBLE FUNDRAISER, AIMED AT DEFENDING OURSELVES FROM A CHANNEL 7 LAWSUIT, AND DEVOTING MORE RESOURCES TO EXPOSING BIGOTED MEDIA REPORTING. YOU CAN KICK IN A FEW BUCKS BY CLICKING HERE.

So we’re upping the ante. Below is our latest correspondence with Channel 7. We’ve gone straight to the top, to the big man, Kerry Stokes.

There’s only a short time left to chip in to our fundraising campaign, here. Every cent will go towards exposing bigoted mainstream media reporting… or defending ourselves from Channel 7 if they work up the courage to proceed.

You can also subscribe and support the work of New Matilda here. Australia’s most stubborn independent media outlet costs as little as $6 a month.
