Do you remember the sheer joy of watching David Bowie dance in Labyrinth on VHS? Or the mix of fear and love sparked by Dark Crystal? Do you have to stifle your urge to sing when The Nightmare Before Christmas comes on? Experience a completely original yet nostalgic story in The Point of Light at Perth Fringeworld!
After a successful season at Melbourne Fringe, Amberly Cull is coming home to Perth to present her hilarious and magical musical in a WA premier. A seasoned improviser/comedian/singer, Cull’s quirky energy is infectious and captivating. She is joined on stage by musician and co-writer Greg Lavell on piano. The incredible score is reminiscent of the best of Disney, with a peppering of A Nightmare Before Christmas and a hint of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
The story follows an adorable and odd looking puppet named Gerda, the bright and spirited heroine, as she goes on a fantastical journey to save the life of her husband. The mystical world unfolds to reveal quirky and bizarre character, friends, foes, unconventional puppets, obstacles and stunning original music.
The Point of Light is a rich and dark hour of magic. It will transport you to a place that is nostalgic and familiar while begging you to give in to your imagination. Situated inside The Pleasure Garden at Casa Mondo, this is an adventure not to be missed.
