Once More Unto The Breach Dear Friends: We’re At The Pointy End Of Our Latest Campaign

0

Almost a fortnight ago, New Matilda launched a fresh Pozible fundraising campaign, this time to raise enough money to pay contributors for their articles.

In addition to a small general contributor’s budget, we’re seeking to provide payment for regular columns to Amy McQuire, Michael Brull, Clare and Jessie Stephens, and Liam McLoughlin for the first quarter of 2016. And a pro tip – if you click on each of their names you can look at their outstanding work in their author pages.

The campaign has less than 30 hours to run, and we’re still not quite halfway to our goal of $25,000. There’s always a last minute rush, but we still have a way to go.

To sweeten the deal, anyone who pledges an amount of $250 or more will also get free advertising on the NM website. That advertising can be used by the pledger or their business, or donated to another business or worthy cause.

The finer details are at the bottom of this story, and also available on the Pozible campaign.

New Matilda survives on the sniff of an oily rag – if this campaign is successful, most of writers (including myself) will still not be paid for their work. This fundraiser is about securing a small weekly column for four excellent young and emerging writers, with a little set aside to find other great talent.

We’re at the pointy end of the campaign – if you don’t support us now, we can’t secure a contributor’s budget… and another four people who work hard (and passionately) won’t get paid for their work.

If you can’t pledge, or already have, please consider sharing this story on social media and with friends and family – if it goes viral, our chances increase exponentially!
