Penny Mackieson is an Australian social worker and author who was adopted as a newborn. Penny recently completed PhD research at the University of Melbourne on Permanent Care Orders, a permanent placement option in Victoria for children in out-of-home care. Penny has worked primarily in the Victorian children and family services sector, and is currently working in a policy and research role with a social change organisation. Penny's most recent book is Adoption Deception: A personal and professional journey (Spinifex Press, 2015).
