Craig Hill is a Brisbane based journalist and education consultant, and a keen observer of Australian and Chinese politics. His previous occupations include bank teller, public servant, prison guard, TAFE teacher, welfare worker, political advisor and corporate trainer to Fortune 500 companies in China. He has worked in the finance sector, the public sector, security, emergency services, retail, construction, community services, education, Aboriginal affairs, politics and corporate training. Previous volunteer work includes with the NSW Bush Fire Brigade, SES, St John Ambulance, chairman and coordinator of a local Red Cross Calling and chairman and coordinator of a local Australians for Reconciliation group. He has travelled extensively throughout Australia, worked on Aboriginal communities, lived in 26 cities in China over 3 ½ years and spent six months singing karaoke in Honolulu. He has previously written for the Goulburn Post, Big Issue magazine, Koori Mail, National Indigenous Times, eChinacities, China Trade Mag and China Daily Mail. He was the first journalist outside China to break the story of China’s intention to invade and occupy the Philippines island of Pag-Asa, which resulted in representations by the Philippines government to the Chinese government, a statement by the U.S. military that they would defend Pag-Asa Island and a back down by the Chinese military. Craig has a Graduate Certificate in Education (TESOL) a degree in Training and Development (Management) and tertiary qualifications in journalism, vocational education, accounting and information technology. Apart from being a freelance journalist, he also teaches accredited courses in English as a Second Language (ESL), Business and Management at registered training organisations (RTOs) in Brisbane, as well as designing curriculum, designing assessment and monitoring compliance issues.
