Catherine Kovesi is an historian at the University of Melbourne, and the daughter of two migrants. She is a graduate of the University of Oxford, where she completed her D.Phil in History, and of the University of Western Australia, where she completed her BA (Hons) in History and in Italian. Her main research areas are the discourses surrounding luxury consumption in early modern Italy, and Florentine family and political history. She has also published on the history of women's religious orders in Australia.
