Australia and New
Zealand.

1st prize is $6000 and a chance to be published in the prestigious book, Best Australian Politcal Cartoons 2008.

Academy Award winning illustrator
Bruce
Petty
,
former leader of the Democrats Natasha Stott Despoja,
satirist Ben Pobjie and the newmatilda.com
editor, Marni Cordell will make up the
final judging panel.

President of the Australian
Cartoon Association, Peter Broelman says that it is fantastic that
newmatilda.com has raised the bar with this competition.

"If it wasn’t for political
cartoonists, Australia’s politicians would be
respected, revered and perhaps even idolised. And that’s so un-Australian!"

"The Australian Cartoonists’
Association is proud to support the newmatilda.com prize and encourages cartoonists of all persuasions
and ages to take part. Who knows, some politicians might try their hand at
satire for some payback!" says Peter.

Entries are now open to
cartoonists. Amateurs, students, professionals or anyone with a dab hand and a
sense of humour, are all encouraged to enter here.
