Today’s issue includes 14 of the most popular pieces published in New Matilda magazine in 2005 — as measured by the number of ‘views’ each one attracted. We’ve also included 5 policy pieces published this year. In the magazine you’ll find an article from all our regular columnists — Jane Caro, John Hooker, Antony Loewenstein, Joanna Mendelssohn, and Andrew West — as well as other favourites such as Julian Burnside, Fred Chaney, Michael Connors, John Edwards, James Gallaway, John and Barbara Gunn, Guy Rundle, Moira Rayner, and Don Watson.

And today’s cartoonist is a festive one from Fiona Katauskas.

Next week, we will publish a ‘staff picks’ issue with pieces chosen from New Matilda’s 2005 archives that we in the office thought were some of the best articles in the magazine.

The New Matilda office will be closed over Christmas and New Year, but if you are experiencing any technical difficulties you can contact us through the ‘Help Desk’ email address: helpdesk@newmatilda.com. We will begin responding to our holiday emails on 9 January when we return, refreshed and reinvigorated, ready for another year of sedition and serious commentary.

The staff, volunteers and board of New Matilda wish all our subscribers a safe and happy festive season. Thank you for your support and we look forward to hearing from you again next year.

Cheers
