Fresh Pirate Industries: Why Is This Ad Appearing?

By New Matilda

September 11, 2024

New Matilda does not accept advertising revenue. Instead, we give away our banner advertising to charities, not-for-profits and friends (businesses and other organisations) who share our ethics and aspirations, particularly those in regional and remote parts of Australia.

Fresh Pirate Industries is a small business based in Gloucester, in the NSW Hunter Valley. It’s run by Nick Graham, the brother of New Matilda editor Chris Graham.

Nick makes custom ‘upcycled’ furniture from timber he’s recovered from “all sorts of places, in all sorts of ways”.

In Nick’s words, “I hate waste”.

He specializes in ‘rustic’, and his indoor (and outdoor) barn doors are ‘kind of a big deal’. So too his custom furniture – everything from wine barrels converted into bar tables (with a lazy Susan in the middle); bedside tables; shelving; knick-knacks (pun intended); coffee tables; even custom car drawers.

Basically, if you can describe it, Nick can probably build it for you.

Nick also happens to be the “world’s most handsome leftie” (self praise being the ultimate recommendation!) and as a single dad is raising the world’s largest teenager (Nathaniel).

Help him feed that giant bugger!
