The Ultimate Happy Friday Video: Fun In The Sun

By New Matilda

February 12, 2016

If you want to feel both happy and sad (happy because the video will make you smile, sad because you’re probably watching it stuck in an office somewhere) then the short promo clip below is for you.

It was shot over the weekend by Kai Davis, a young Aboriginal film-maker based at Foster on the north coast of NSW (Kai collaborated with New Matilda owner Chris Graham on a one-hour documentary last year – the film will air later in 2016), and the pair are working on several more films together in 2016.

The clip was shot predominantly around Foster, and was filmed in two days. It will eventually be part of a teaser clip for friends of Kai’s – the ‘boys’ behind the clothing line NCAC (they sell through the line through their own store called ‘The Stash House’, with shops in Foster, Byron, Newcastle and Jindabyne).

For the tech heads, it’s shot predominantly with a GoPro, with a bit of broadcast quality Sony edited in here and there.

Increasingly, Kai is specialising in short lifestyle and promotional videos specifically created for social media.

“It could be for anything – fitness, outdoors, modeling or a client might just want me to follow them for the day for a clip for their own page, to promote a business, tourism or just a self promotional video,” says Kai.

“I break that down to a two-minute video for Facebook and two 15-second clips for Instagram.”

If you want to back a ridiculously talented young Blackfella in a business – Kai works all around Australia and internationally – you can get a short promotional video shot for yourself or your business. Email Kai for a quote here. His Facebook page is here and he’s on Instagram here.
