Take The Gurrumul Challenge: Lifting Your ‘Goodeswill’ To The Next Level

By Chris Graham

The enormous outpouring of support for AFL star Adam Goodes is obviously a bloody good thing, albeit long overdue. But supporting Aboriginal Australia requires more than just tweeting support for a sports star being booed every time he touches the ball.

Real support for black Australia requires taking an ongoing interest in the things being done to them by our government, in our name.

It’ll also help if Australians start embracing the extraordinary things that Aboriginal people – and culture – have to offer.

So we’ve devised a simple test to determine how far you are along that path.

1. Watch the video below.

2. If it doesn’t inspire you, give you goosebumps, and make you swell with pride at the fact you live amongst the oldest continuing culture on earth… then you might have a little bit more work to do.

PS. The song, Gathu Mawula, is written by Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu, and this version is a collaboration with Blue King Brown, and also features the Chooky Dancers.
