In Their Own Words: 25 Drawings From Children In Detention

By New Matilda

August 01, 2014

The following drawings were done by children held in mandatory immigration detention.

Most of the drawings depicted here come from children being held on Christmas Island.

Australia is the only industrialised nation on earth with a policy of mandatory detention of children for immigration reasons.

The pictures have been supplied by the Australian Human Rights Commission, as part of its ongoing inquiry into children in immigration detention.
