New Matilda Political Cartoon Competition

Welcome to the 2009 newmatilda.com prize for political cartooning!

We are offering cartoonists from all over Australia and New Zealand some impressive cash for their clever creations.

The grand prize is $6000 of 'cold hard' cash, second place gets $1000 and third place gets $500.

Heat winners also win $250 each and a place in the finals. An expert judging panel including veteran caricaturist Bill Leak, political sketchwriter Annabel Crabb and cartoonist Peter Broelman will come together for the final decision.

Support talented cartoonists as they take the piss out of our politicians. Go and vote for your favourite cartoon in each heat and register to win free tickets, prizes and giveaways. Better still if you can combine your artistic nous with political satire enter your own cartoons.

The competition is open to Australian and New Zealand residents—professionals, amateurs, students or anyone with artistic flair and a sense of humour.

Visitors to the competition site can vote for one cartoon per heat. When entries to the current heat are displayed, simply select your favourite cartoon (Vote for this cartoon) and then select ‘Submit your vote’ at the bottom of the cartoon entries.

Visitors can only vote once per heat. Multiple votes will not be considered towards the vote tally for each entry.
